Stewardship Technician

WBC is recruiting a Stewardship Technician to join our team.
The Stewardship Technician is responsible for implementing stewardship projects in the Walker Basin and beyond. Stewardship activities include fuels management and conifer removal, mechanical and chemical weed control, wildlife friendly fence construction, irrigation installation and operation, native plant revegetation, trail building and recreation enhancement, process-based stream restoration, and other stream and wetland improvements. Stewardship Technicians work on small teams with other Technicians and at the direction of a Stewardship Specialist, often in remote locations requiring camping for four to eight days at a time.
Nursery Team Member (Tech I)

The Nursery Team Member (Tech I) is a hands-on, year-round position that plays a key role in the Conservancy’s Nursery and Native Seed Farm programs. This position supports supervisors in all aspects of nursery, greenhouse, and field operations, including plant propagation, seed collection and processing, production, and field activities. The ideal candidate brings practical nursery, greenhouse, agricultural, or horticultural experience; enjoys working outdoors in variable conditions; and values teamwork, efficiency, and attention to detail. This position is well-suited for individuals interested in native plants, restoration, and conservation who are eager to grow their skills within a supportive and expanding program. The Walker Basin Conservancy partners with the Bureau of Land Management to implement Assessment Inventory and Monitoring (AIM) surveys in western Nevada and eastern California. The AIM strategy is designed to collect standardized inventory and long-term vegetation and soils data to monitor habitat at multiple scales across the Western U.S. The Vegetation Monitoring Technicians will work in teams of three (two technicians and a Crew Lead) to conduct vegetation and ecological monitoring surveys within western Nevada (Carson City District) or eastern California (Bishop Field Office). There will be two crews in NV and two in CA. Crews will work on eight-day hitches, from Wednesday to Wednesday (10hr/day), with six days off in-between hitches.

Nursery Production Manager

WBC is recruiting a Nursery Production Manager to join our team.
The Nursery Production Manager plays a vital role in implementing grow plans and planning day-to-day nursery operations at the Conservancy’s native plant production site in Smith Valley. Working closely with the Native Seed Manager and Nursery Supervisor, the Nursery Production Manager performs production planning, procurement, shipping logistics, and customer fulfillment to meet strategic and contractual objectives. The person in this role will prioritize plant health, safety and quality standards, and operational efficiency.
